Fixing Time: Sutton Clock Shop

This video was shot at the Sutton Clock Shop which has been in business in New York City for over 60 years. The shop is run by Sebastian Laws, a master clockmaker, who learned his craft under the tutelage of his father, a former member of the Danish Underground in World War II and a rower who competed in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. Originally located on Sutton Place, this video was shot at its location on the corner of 61st and Lexington, where it resided for 45 years. In late 2012 it moved to it’s present location at 218 East 82nd Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenue.

Originally produced for Etsy.comSutton Clock Shop has gained a lot of publicity since the video was released. It was featured on CNN, the PBS program Marketing Warriors, the Huffington Post and the Emmy award winning PBS series, New York Originals.

In addition, the Sutton Clock Shop video won Best Film in WNET’s Reel13 short film contest and was a finalist in Shooting People’s film of the month competition.
