Reading text takes a lot of work. You need to interpret letters into words, words into sentences, and sentences into ideas. This processing occurs primarily in the conscious language and logic centers of the brain or, for simplicity's sake, the  left side of the brain. Those ideas are then assigned positive or negative emotional weights by, again for simplicity's sake, the right side of the brain.
However, visual information -- photos, graphics and video -- don't need to be processed on the left side first. They go straight to the parts of the brain that process feelings. The result? Instant emotional reaction.
In fact, visual information is processed 60,000x faster than text. That's why, if you use visuals to help tell the story about you and your product or service, you’ll take advantage of the instant emotional processing power of the brain compared to asking people to “work” for information.
Of all these visual mediums, however, video is the most effective. That's because it has the ability to transfer visual AND auditory information at the same time, which research has shown to increase information retention. Video affects ALL the senses. And if your video is designed strategically, these elements will work synergistically to create an emotional state that encourages buying behavior. And, how cool is that?
